We’re a fun, small yet passionate studio specialising in digital brand, design and development for brands we do good! We help brands of all sizes create long-lasting, positive impacts through captivating digital experiences and intelligent design solutions. Based in London, near Farringdon to be precise (from October), we specialise in delivering small and medium-sized organisations, particularly in the third or social sector, captivating brand and beautiful, functioning websites.

We're looking for a passionate and energetic Junior Designer, with a passion for branding, a desire to create client pleasing websites and not afraid to jump in and create other digital marketing assets. You will be joining Purple Banana Creative Design at an exciting time as we expand with our first full-time team, in a new London office, to help bring our studio to the next level.

This is an exciting role for an ambitious and motivated candidate with a positive, can-do attitude, who’s looking to work in a start-up orientated, fast—paced environment. As we enter a new stage of growth, we’re seeking someone some resilient who isn’t afraid to go the extra mile to help us succeed. As we strive to build our internal studio culture and team, we are seeking someone who is able to commute to our new Farringdon office.

As our Junior Designer, you will be involved in all aspects of our project work alongside all of our biggest clients. From conceptual work to logo design, branding, asset creation and ad-hoc client projects and retainer work, you’ll need to be someone who’s skilled and fast-moving, feeling confident in taking a client brief and delivering their vision. You'll also be working alongside the Creative Director to help deliver workshops with clients, so public speaking is a must.

Here are some of the things you’ll be doing:

  • Working with the Creative Director to help support and deliver creative pitches and briefs to clients.
  • Keeping up with the latest trends in tech, culture and media – be on top of the latest trends.
  • Attending client meetings to present project work, receive briefs and build ongoing relationships with clients.
  • Leading on the design and artworking of brochures, infographics, annual review and pitch decks amongst others.
  • Helping update both our own website, but our clients’ sites too on Wordpress and Webflow.
  • Creating social media assets and other marketing graphics, working with our Marketing Consultants.
  • Liaising with clients on retaines - you'll be point of contact for a number of key client retainers, delivering ad-hoc and regular project work with the Creative Director.
  • Assisting the Creative Director with other administrative duties.

The job role would be well suited to a recent University graduate who has been completing a design-based degree, or a freelancer with 1-2 years of experience. However, we know how hard it has been for everyone during the last year or so to find work experience, and will take this into account when you apply.

What we’re looking for in our Junior Designer:

  • Excellent working knowledge and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign (any additional apps are a bonus!)
  • Ideally someone with experience working in an agency or freelance – however, we know that COVID-19 has made it hard to gain work experience!
  • A working knowledge of Canva is desirable.
  • Any knowledge of Frontify, or another Digital Asset Management system is a bonus, but not crucial.
  • Website design experience and managing CMS sites (knowledge of Webflow is a bonus!)
  • A passionate approach to working including looking for new and innovative ways to showcase content (for example case studies on our site).
  • Confident communication skills, with a good grasp of the English language to help proof-read documents.
  • Dependability and attention to deadlines and details.
  • A team player who can take the lead on projects, working very closely with our team of freelancers and clients from planning to delivery.

  • ‍You’ll be working from a brand new, modern thinking office in Farringdon with weekly beer and pizza nights, Monday-morning breakfasts, unlimited coffee and snacks and space to allow your creative mind to roam.
  • We’re tech lovers, so you’ll get a brand-new MacBook Pro with a huge screen.
  • An opportunity to join a growing team and help shape the future of our studio.
  • Training opportunities to develop your skills.
  • The option to work from home 1-2 days per week.
  • Monthly company outings and treats.
  • We're a carbon-positive workforce committed to building a sustainable business!

We want you to be creative with your application, whilst a CV and cover letter are the norm…we don’t want to join the bandwagon! We like bending the rules sometimes, and this is a creative role after all. So however, you want to show us your portfolio, be imaginative!

If you would like to apply for this role, please email with the subject title ‘Junior Designer Application’.

We look forward to hearing from you!
